Show Your J-Town PRIDE

  • Be Safe - Be Respectful - Be Responsible

Jordan PRIDE is our JES school-wide behavior model we use to support students’ social-emotional learning.  Our staff also incorporates the Jordan Public Schools Strategic Plan into our daily behavior expectations, which helps students to "Grow Your Jordan PRIDE" (Preparedness, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, Excellence). Included in this positive behavior support and interventions approach (PBIS or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), JES staff will make sure to emphasize that bullying will not be tolerated.  Students and families can feel confident that we will address all forms of bullying and provide students with the necessary skills to prevent bullying from happening.  We also incorporate Jordan PRIDE on the school bus with our Peaceful Bus program.  This is a partnership between JES staff and Benjamin Bus Company that promotes Jordan PRIDE on the bus and helps create positive relationships between students and their bus drivers.

When students demonstrate positive behavior, they will receive a Jordan PRIDE Pass for their hard work and efforts in following our school rules of being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible, as well as showing Jordan PRIDE.  Half of the pass will come home to let you know why your child was acknowledged at school for showing Jordan PRIDE.  The other half of the pass will go into a grade level bucket near the main office.  At the end of the week, we draw names out of each bucket for a special privilege or recognition.

We understand it’s normal for students to not always make the right choice to follow school and classroom rules/contracts.  In order to support all levels of social learning, we also have a process grounded in Restorative Practices in helping students to learn from mistakes and make a more appropriate choice next time.  For most behaviors, students will have a conversation with a staff member to remind them about the expected behaviors.  If a student continues to make inappropriate choices, students will then have a consequence that may include: 1. Just Stop and Think slip, 2. Call home to parent/guardian, or 3. Conversation with the JES Behavior Specialist or Principal.  If your child receives a consequence, we encourage you to have a conversation with your child about the behavior.  Please sign the Just Stop and Think slip and return it to school the next day. The slip will not go into their permanent file, rather it will be used to track behaviors in order to give us an idea as to where we need to place our efforts in making school a better place.   Students who receive multiple Just Stop and Think slips or commit a serious offense, may have a more severe consequence/punishment such as a JES Office Referral.  The referral will not go into the student’s file unless it results in a school suspension.
